About Us
Cyndy Cashman, Ph.D. established Breakaway Interactive in the fall of 1999. After spending time as a university professor and director of instructional technology at a community college, she decided it was time to "breakaway" from the never ending committee meetings and return to her passion for design, development, and training. Originally established to provide software training for creative professionals, the company has expanded to include design, development, and consulting services.
Today, Cyndy continues to teach many of the classes at Breakaway sharing her wealth of experience as a designer, developer, consultant, and author.
Karen Jones Cozart, M.Ed., MLIS, is an instructional designer, online instructor, and writer. She has a long history at the University of Oklahoma and has consulted with Breakaway Interactive since it opened in 1999. From 1982 until 2008, Karen served as an academic counselor, adjunct instructor, and most recently as the Director of the Arts and Sciences Online Program at the University of Oklahoma. Due to family responsibilities, Karen resigned as director in December 2008. She continues to teach a variety of courses online for the University of Oklahoma and working as a technical writer and instructional design consultant for Breakaway Interactive.
